Botticelli Website Reviews

Alessandro Filipepi or better known as Sandro Botticelli began his career as a painter during the Italian High Renaissance period. He was born around the year 1445 in Florence, Italy and would spend the rest of his life there. He had five siblings and one brother’s nickname is ‘Botticelli’ which means “little barrel”, which was later passed on to him. He first convinced his father that he wanted to study painting, and was apprenticed under the well known painter, Fra Filippo Lippi. He was often commissioned by the Medici family, a powerful and influential family in that era to paint for them. After his death, his work lay forgotten for a long time, but he has now earned the accorded respect for the achievements of his lifetime.***
